Raheem Sterling reveals what Juan Mata told him for the duration of Manchester United’s defeat to Manchester Metropolis

Raheem Sterling has exposed that Juan Mata instructed him to ‘show a minimal respect’ through Manchester City’s victory over Manchester United last month.

Sterling angered United’s players in the closing levels of City’s 3-1 acquire at the Etihad Stadium by executing quite a few stepovers with the ball to operate down the clock.

Right after the remaining whistle, Pep Guardiola was also upset with Sterling’s determination to showboat and confronted the City winger on the pitch.

‘He [Guardiola] does not want us to disrespect any one. I was shocked,’ Sterling told The Instances.

‘I was retaining the ball in the corner. I can have an understanding of if we experienced dropped the ball, and they’d long gone down the other close, but I am attempting to squander time, bring in a foul.

‘I wasn’t seeking to take the mickey out of them that they have dropped.

‘That’s not my issue. Juan Mata just explained, ‘Show a tiny little bit of respect.’ I was not striving to disrespect them. I would not.

‘I was just trying to maintain the ball in the corner and entertain the enthusiasts at the exact same time.’
