Manchester City benefitted from some baffling officiating when Raheem Sterling was awarded a penalty towards Shakhtar Donetsk.

The Sky Blues ended up major 1- in the Champions League match when Sterling was sent by means of on purpose and hit the deck as he kicked the turf alternatively of the ball.

Referee Viktor Kassai pointed to the location, to the absolute horror of defender Mykola Matviyenko and the relaxation of the Shakhtar staff.

Matviyenko turned in disbelief towards the referee, proclaiming his innocence, but Kassai waved absent the protests.

The official driving the objective appeared to make no attempt to inform Kassai there was no contact amongst Matviyenko and Sterling.

Shakhtar boss Paulo Fonseca was furious with the decision and was however remonstrating with the officials at half-time as the referees designed their way down the tunnel.
